Animal / Bike Licensing
Pets and bikes can be licensed at the City Police Department.

Licensing: All dogs and cats must be licensed prior to January 1st each year. The cost is $5.00 per year. At the time of licensing, the owner must show valid proof of the animal’s vaccination. The owner will then be issued a metallic tag, which the animal must wear on its collar at all times.

Vaccination: All dogs and cats must be vaccinated within one month following acquisition or when the animal reaches six months of age.

Control: It should be noted that no animal shall be permitted to run at large or to disturb the peace and quiet of the city.

Automobile Licensing
South Dakota licenses plates and renewals can be received at the Treasurer's Office in the Davison County Courthouse.

Drivers Licensing
South Dakota drivers licenses can be obtained or renewed at the Department of Drivers Licensing located at 1315 N. Main Street.

Licenses are renewable up to 90 days before assigned month. Please bring registrations or titles for each vehicle you wish to license. When registering a vehicle you have recently purchased, please bring the SD drivers license or social security number of all individuals to be placed on the title. Titles with open liens cannot be transferred. Liens are indicated on the front lower portion of the title, and can be released at the Treasurer's office.

Property Tax Information:
First half property taxes are due April 30, second half are due October 31. Please bring your tax notices with you. Tax payments may be sent to our office at 200 East 4th Ave., Mitchell, SD 57301 and MUST be postmarked by April 30, and October 31 respectively. Please send your tax stubs to ensure proper credit to the correct parcels of land

Voter Registration

In order to register to vote you must be 18 years old or upwards on or before election day. You must also be a United States Citizen. AND, you must be registered to vote.

In order to vote in the upcoming election, you must be registered to vote in the county you reside in.

To register:
You must complete a voter registration card and return it to the County Auditor prior to the voter registration deadline. The registration deadline is 15 days prior to any election. You may do this at:
