Meet Sam and Jenny Bowles, proud new residents of Mitchell, South Dakota. Together with their two daughters, Makensie and Callie, they’ve embraced life in this welcoming community. Sam and Jenny first crossed paths in Carthage, Tennessee, and their story has led them to an exciting new chapter in Mitchell.

Hailing from Gordonsville, Tennessee, Sam and Jenny made the move to Mitchell after Sam accepted a new role at Graphic Packaging. It was through work that Mitchell came onto their radar as a potential place to call home. The opportunity seemed like a perfect fit, and they haven’t looked back since.

When they arrived in Mitchell, the Bowles family immediately fell in love with the town’s small-town charm. “The people are so nice and willing to help,” Sam shared. With a smooth transition, thanks to support from coworkers, the family felt prepared to settle into their new surroundings.

What stands out most for the Bowles family is the community’s welcoming vibe. Sam enjoys the small-town feel and loves taking advantage of the local hunting and golf opportunities.
Since moving to Mitchell, Sam has taken part in local organizations, including speaking engagements with the Rotary and Lions Clubs. While making friends and connections has come naturally, their favorite restaurant, Bradley’s, has become a go-to spot for a great meal.

Sam’s passion for golf and pheasant hunting has only grown since moving to Mitchell. While they haven’t picked up any new hobbies, the town offers plenty of activities to keep them engaged.
Sam works as an Operations Manager at Graphic Packaging, while Jenny brings her talents to Floor to Ceiling. Their move to Mitchell was heavily influenced by Sam’s career, and they’ve both had a positive experience integrating into the community.

The Bowles family discovered several gems in Mitchell. Among their favorites are First Fridays, Lakeview Golf Course, and of course, Bradley’s restaurant. These local spots have helped them feel right at home.
For those considering a move to Mitchell, Sam offers simple but impactful advice: “Give it a try—you’ll be surprised about Mitchell.” While housing can be a concern for newcomers, Sam emphasizes that the town’s welcoming atmosphere more than makes up for any initial challenges.

Reflecting on their time in Mitchell, Sam and Jenny are grateful for the warm welcome they’ve received. “The experience has been great,” Sam shared. “We’ve met a lot of great people, and everyone is so welcoming.”
With a positive outlook and a growing connection to the community, the Bowles family is proud to call Mitchell their home.
