Mitchell is proudly home to two institutions of higher education, where students routinely set and exceed high expectations for their future.
DWU is a private university known for academic excellence in many disciplines. From business to biology, from digital media and design to education, from athletic training to nursing, and in many other fields, DWU students provide an educated workforce across the region.
MTC's mission is to “provide skills for success in technical careers.” Mitchell Tech does this by providing high-quality Associate of Applied Science degree and diploma programs in more than occupational areas. Mitchell Tech is a valued partner in the development of South Dakota’s workforce, especially in the utilities, agricultural, communications, construction and manufacturing sectors. Mitchell Tech also offers programs in business, culinary, computer, and health-related fields. Several programs are available online. Rounding out the services offered are a corporate education office that provides continuing education opportunities for employed individuals and the South Dakota Leadership Academy, a mentor-based training program for technicians who wish to develop their management skills for advancement within their companies.
