Author Visit - Amber Hiles
Name: Author Visit - Amber HilesDate: July 22, 2023Time: 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM CDTEvent Description:Amber Hiles (Verba) lives in Mitchell, South Dakota with her husband, three children, three dogs, two cats, and two guinea pigs. There's lots of hair, and the vacuum wants a raise.
Along with her debut novel, "Water and Stone," Amber's short stories, excerpts, and poems have been published in various print and digital media in the region. Look for recent works in the newly created Mitchell Middle School blog, MMS Writes, at mmswrites.com , created and designed by the author to give students an opportunity to publish and offer a glimpse into the world of publishing. Amber works at the Mitchell School District as the MCL ELA teacher to grades 6-8. She is grateful to have the chance to teach the next generation of writers.
She believes in the power of the mind to manifest and encourages training of the mind to produce healthy thought patterns. The brain constructs your reality based on what you pay attention to; as such, it can be programmed to produce a reality that is grateful, productive, and joyful. Amber's favorite place to be is any shelter belt; she regularly sages her home and person, reads tarot, studies numerology, and collects stones. Amber also believes in the healing power of the embrace, insisting that any hug be no less than 20 awkward, lovely seconds.
