Mitchell Regional Habitat for Humanity will be accepting applications for a Habitat home during the month of March. There will be two informational meetings held at the Mitchell Public Library Community Room during the month of March that anyone interested in the program is encouraged to attend. They will be on March 2nd at 7:00 p.m. and March 14th at 10:30 a.m. Applications will be available at the meetings, in the Habitat office, and online starting March 2nd. Qualified applicants must meet certain income and housing requirements.
Since 2001, Mitchell Habitat has built or repaired more than 25 homes in Davison and Hanson counties in cooperation with volunteers, businesses, and in partnership with future homeowners. We just finished building our seventh new home, located in Mitchell, and we are seeking applicants for exterior repair projects to be completed on existing homes later this spring and summer. New homeowner families complete 200-400 hours of “sweat equity” working on their homes and the homes of others. When the home is completed, they purchase their homes from Habitat using a no-interest mortgage. Find out more on our website at www.mitchellhabitat.org
